The Langley Healthier Community Partnership
The Langley Healthier Community Partnership was established as a result of recommendations
made by the Fraser Health Municipal Government Advisory Group. A Steering Council
was formed in November 2009 and is comprised of the following members:
- Peter Fassbender, Mayor, City of Langley, co-chair
- Rick Green, Mayor Township of Langley, co-chair
- Lois Dixon, Fraser Health, co-chair
- Richard Konarski, RCMP Langley Detachment
- Lynne Topham, Aldergrove Neighborhood Services
- Elaine Logan, Minister of Housing and Social Development
- Bill Dartnell, Langley Community Services
- Lynn Whitehouse, Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce
- Maureen Joyce, Stepping Stone Community Services Society
- Sharon Birnie, Langley Seniors Recreation and Resource Centre
- Amarjit Sahota, Ministry of Children and Family Development
- Janet Bennett, Langley Ministerial Association
- Cheryl Beaumont, School District #35
The purpose of the Langley Healthier Community Partnership is to provide broad-based
community input and guidance for the development of a comprehensive plan to improve
the overall health of the community.
The primary objectives for the Partnerships are:
- To gain a better understanding of the health needs of the community;
- To identify areas of priority for the community; and
- To collectively develop goals, objectives and strategies to address determinants
of health, including social, economic, environmental, and safety factors, as well
as improve access to appropriate health care services.
